We are seeking an Air Force Satellite Control Network (AFSCN) Remote Ground Station (RGS) Chief of Support at Diego Garcia to support our Consolidated Air Force Space Command Modifications, Maintenance, and Operations (CAMMO) program.
**This position requires 24/7 support, via 12-hour shifts. Travel is minimal and only for training purposes.**
What you’ll do…
- Oversee the maintenance activities at an Air Force Satellite Control Network (AFSCN) Remote Tracking Station (RTS); a 24x7 work force of operations and maintenance (O&M) technicians working with RF, digital telecommunications, encryption, and networking systems. Attend O&M meetings as required
- Verify maintenance activities are properly scheduled, performed and documented. Use the Integrated Maintenance Data System (IMDS) to schedule, document and track maintenance activities, to include unscheduled equipment failures and preventive maintenance inspections (PMIs). Coordinate authorized service interruptions (ASIS or “down time”) with customers and AFSCN schedulers to perform PMIs
- Coordinate, liaison and represent our “level 1” organizational maintenance team with “level 2” depot maintenance activities; including PDMs, EDLMs and UDLMs. Verify receipt and proper staging of equipment for depot teams. Receive and coordinate updates to maintenance documentation from depot to include redlines, technical order (TO) changes and process changes due to depot activities
- Review and comment on “minor modifications” to systems’ software, hardware and technical processes proposed by depot maintenance. Review the plans for these modifications, and verify they are within technical capabilities of the team
- Verify the documentation, tools and equipment necessary to execute the modification is available for the O&M technicians. Report findings to the site team and share information with the entire CAMMO program through correspondence and at meetings
- Verify proper logistics support for the site’s maintenance activities, to include ready spares as allotted, proper tools and test equipment available, and parts ordering processes run fluidly on site and quickly respond to needs
- Oversee and verify inventories of spares, supplies, tools and equipment, and verify proper and accurate updates to applicable inventory documentation
- Identify the need for processes and process improvements to maintenance activities. Develop and review maintenance related instructions, procedures and policies for accuracy, relevance and completeness. Oversee the use of these processes; updating them to employ more efficient and effective use of time and resources
- Ensure all software required for site operations are downloaded from applicable databases and back-up copies of existing software is maintained for fall back requirements
- Verify personnel comply with contractor conduct and training requirements. Verify personnel are trained to participate in all 50 SW or higher exercises. Coordinate personnel schedules to complete maintenance training activities and qualification of maintenance certifications for the Station Manager and Chief of Operations
- Manage and coordinate all Configuration Management requirements for site. Provide feedback and documentation is required
- Maintain all site O&M certifications
- May be assigned additional duties i.e. safety, security, COMSEC, etc. as required.
