Responsibilities

Peraton is hiring a Space SIGINT Requirements Systems Engineer to join our Cyber Mission business unit in Jessup, MD. As a Systems Engineer on our team, you will support one of the largest enterprise-wide engineering contracts within the Intelligence Community. This is a full-time position requiring 1880 hours of support per year; and work is performed at a customer location. As a Space SIGINT Requirements Systems Engineer on our team, you will provide support for identifying, coordinating, and resolving the technical and policy challenges to utilizing commercial space systems to augment existing Space SIGINT system capacity. You will work collaboratively across the Intelligence Community to provide systems engineering and other technical assistance to customer’s requirements development and planning for National SIGINT systems with a focus on how those requirements might be enhanced by using commercial space resources.

 

You will work closely with intelligence agencies, national-level customers, and military services to capture and document the requirements for the next generation systems. The effort requires participation in numerous meetings, working groups, and integrated product teams, product reviews, and status meetings to monitor the systems engineering plans, development, and deployment of space and ground processing systems. You will be a key member of the team charged with the production of solid documentation of the customers’ requirements and a mapping of where, when, and how those requirements will be satisfied by capabilities to be deployed across the extended IC enterprise as the next generation collection and processing systems are fielded. You will directly participate in structured analysis of alternatives (AoA) decision making processes as plans work through the appropriate decision gates. To be successful, you must be able to communicate with other program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives.

Qualifications

Individual Capabilities/Experience Required:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline and at least 20 years of systems engineering experience. A Master’s or PhD Degree may be substituted for two years of experience. Note: A High School Diploma or GED plus 24 years of systems engineering experience would also be acceptable.
  • Knowledge of National SIGINT technologies, capabilities, their associated system architectural components (i.e. space systems, ground stations, ground processing systems), and knowledge of the national collection requirements prioritization system and associated processes is critical.
  • An understanding of the policy constraints associated with the conduct of lawful SIGINT operations is also critical to success.
  • Must be self-starter capable of working tasks to completion without direct immediate oversight.
  • Must have Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to represent customer organization at intelligence community requirements working groups and other technical forums.
  • Position requires TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.

 

Individual Capabilities/Experience Desired:

  • The ideal candidate would be National Systems SIGINT Space/Ground Architecture SME. However, familiarity with relevant IC organizations and processes may be a suitable replacement for detailed technical knowledge of current National SIGINT system capabilities.
  • Knowledge of customer Corporate Requirements process will be very helpful in being fully effective in this work role as the supported organization often partners with other agency organization as requirements work their way through the ICCR and JCIDS process.
  • Some knowledge of DNI’s Intelligence Community Capability Requirements (ICCR) process and the Joint Capabilities Integration Development Systems (JCIDS) process would be valuable. The task generally operates at the enterprise and architectural level of the capabilities needs processes, and seldom requires deep dives into low level system requirements.

 

Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Target Salary Range

$190,000 - $304,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
