Virtual Infrastructure Engineer

Peraton has an exciting opportunity for a Virtual Infrastructure Engineer to join our team on-site at our Landover, MD location.

In this role you will primarily be responsible for the development and implementation of our virtualized environment, utilizing VMWare 6.7/7.0 products (vCenter/ESXi/VSAN), as well as a variety of guest operating systems including Windows Server, CentOS/Linux, and Solaris.  Day-to-day activities require the ability to:

• Design, develop, evaluate and modify systems and systems-oriented products.
• Gather information concerning the capabilities of products and  investigates the technical capabilities of products and competing equipment and/or solution.
• Analyze customer problems and assist in designing system modifications to satisfy customer needs.
• Coordinate resolution of product/service issues, upgrades, and problems.
• Prepare equipment analysis to instruct sales force and customers in equipment capabilities.
• Coordinate the planning, design, and installation of equipment, using knowledge of engineering and programming as well as sophisticated instruments and computers. 
• Provide technical guidance on changing trends and emerging products in the industry with the view to further improve existing technology and its application.
• Work as a member of Agile Scrum and/or Kanban teams.

Required Qualifications:

• Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility and ability to obtain a Poly.
• Requires eight (8) to 10 years with BS/BA or six (6) to eight (8) years with MS/MA or three (3) to five (5) years with PhD. May consider additional experience in lieu of degree.
• Current/valid DOD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (Sec+, Net+, etc).
• Experience configuring and hardening Linux systems.
• Experience designing, configuring and hardening VMWare converged deployments include vCenter, ESXi, and VSAN.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience working as part of Agile development teams.
• Working knowledge of open-source software distributions and the open-source community.
• Experience in automation using Ansible or a similar technology.
• Experience using the Atlassian suite for software development (JIRA, Bitbucket/git).
