As a Journeyman Risk Manager, you’ll work with U.S. Space Force to develop and rapidly deploy the next generation of resilient Missile Warning (MW), Tactical Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (TISR), and Environmental Monitoring (EM) capabilities to deter attacks and provide critical information to our war-fighters to defeat our enemies in battle.  Your customer will trust you to not only test, analyze, evaluate, validate, and verify these systems, but also identify areas requiring urgent mitigation up front and early to develop this system with advanced technology solutions.  Grow your skills by merging innovative engineering methodologies and cross-disciplinary coordination to create tomorrow’s solutions. The Journeyman Risk Manager will be responsible for the following but not limited to:

  • Facilitate a Sustainment Division engineering risk program at the appropriate classification levels.
  • Record risk board discussions, work with the risk owner to document and resolve risks, and present the results of all actions taken as part of the risk management process.
  • Facilitate, document and resolve program/project-specific risks at lower level risk boards, forums and working groups.
  • Interface with prime development contractors’ risk management team and their associated risk boards to ensure that the impact of prime development contractors’ risks is properly reflected at the Sustainment Division level risk boards.
  • Recommend new risks as needed to resolve problems outside prime development contractor control.
  • Create, execute, and maintain the Capability Area Risk and Issue Management Plan (RIMP) for each Remote Sensing Capability Area, IAW AFI 63101/20101, Air Force Pamphlet (AF PAM) 63128 (Chapter 12) to include inter-segment risks and issues for a Capability Area perspective.
  • Generate, maintain, present and provide training course material for Government and program Risk Management processes and tools.
  • Track and report Government risk and issue metrics at each Government Risk Management Board (RMB).
  • Facilitate, manage and participate in the Government RMB, to include preparation, distribution and presentation of agendas, briefings, reports, meeting minutes and action items.
  • Proactively track action item status and provide updates and closure plans for all open action items.
  • Prepare an executive summary report for the Remote Sensing Capability Area leadership for each government RMB.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have an active/current Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret / SCI clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, or equivalent technical discipline with five (5) – seven (7) years of relevant experience; Master's degree and three (3) – five (5) years of relevant experience; PhD and zero experience – two (2) of relevant experience; High-school Diploma/GED and nine (9+) years of relevant experience in lieu of a completed degree
  • Minimum of three (3+) years of experience performing the risk management process on space-related (space, ground, software, hardware system) Major Defense Acquisition Programs
  • Experience with supporting overall engineering integration of Systems Engineering and Integration efforts for the DoD, government agencies, or commercial programs
  • Knowledge of IAW AFI 63101/20101 and AF PAM 63128
  • Ability to develop, document, execute and update program Risk and Issue Management Plans, process, and products
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and propose program risks, issues, and handling plans
  • Ability to facilitate, manage and participate in the Government Risk Management Boards, to include preparation, distribution and presentation of agendas, briefings, reports, meeting minutes and action items
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

Desired Qualifications:

  • A current TS/SCI security clearance
  • Master’s degree in an engineering, mathematics, physics, or equivalent technical discipline
  • Experience performing systems engineering, integration, and test on space-based remote sensing systems
  • Experience with planning and executing System Integration of complex Space/Ground systems
  • Knowledge of DoD 5000.01/02
  • INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional certifications (ASEP, CSEP, or ESEP)

Target Salary Range

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
