Responsibilities

Peraton seeks a Senior Modeling and Simulation Analyst of Cyber Risk to join our Mission Assurance and Operations Research Analysis (MA/ORSA) team in support of the Joint Force Headquarters DoDIN.  Location:  Fort Meade, Maryland.

 

Working as expert to assist JFHQ-DODIN understand, identify, assess, and managing risks effecting the secure operation and defensibility of cyberspace, inclusive of DoD intelligence systems, missions support systems, weapon systems, new technology, capabilities, networks, cyber physical system, control systems, cloud environments, data stores, etc.

 

Supports operations research analysis for intelligence, cyberspace operations, contingency operations, and operational-level planning, joint and multilateral training exercises, and strategic engagement policy. Helps analyze actual and predictable, interacting, operational activities of systems to obtain a quantitative, rational basis for decision-making through the application of logic and scientific or economic disciplines and techniques.

 

Helps other research analysts devise modeling and measuring techniques to investigate complex issues and solve problems. Assists in addressing requirements and the evaluation of data assessment strategies: sampling, statistical analysis, evaluation, flow processing, and management assessment strategies. Assists with developing cost-benefit analysis, data collection, data analysis, risk analysis, simulation model execution, economic analysis, and operational effectiveness studies.

 

Duties include:

  • Support the development and documentation of continuous and repeatable assessment methodologies to enable aggregation of risk
  • Develop strategies to forecast risk across assets, missions, tasks, area of operations, and other identified boundaries.
  • Support the development of metrics, trend analysis, and other continuous assessments 
  • Monitor and assess the health and status of cyber terrain 
  • Support and facilitate sector commander/director reporting and analyses.
  • Provide reporting of analyses and continuous assessments via Risk Dashboard/Risk Scorecard
  • Provide trend analysis reports as weekly, monthly, and quarterly rollups.
  • Develop and execute experimentation, models, and simulations
  • Provide risk, mitigations, COAs, and recommendations for added resources.
  • Document & capture activities, models, simulations, and analyses techniques.
  • Support four command level wargames/exercises per year - travel expected

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BS 10-12, MS 8-10, Phd 5-7.  Background includes quantitative experience and/or education (e.g., mathematics, statistics, etc.). Will consider HS +11-14 Years.
  • Must be familiar with systems engineering, operations research, and object-oriented software coding experience (e.g., Python, C++, MATLAB). 
  • Must have familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering, SysML, and modeling tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler.
  • Must have familiarity with analysis and creation of custom metrics within a discrete event simulator framework like AFSIM, be able to perform analysis with post-processing software (such as Python, R, Excel, etc.), and provide quantitative/qualitative answers to challenging, cyberspace systems-focused questions.
  • Experienced with model development and testing as well as gathering, relating, and identifying data with variables in models.
  • Has developed reports noting various alternatives and success probability when there is no single solution.
  • Possesses an understanding of cyberspace doctrine, policies, operations, and organizations. 
  • Must have a full, complete, and in-depth understanding of all aspects of Defensive Cyberspace Operations 
  • Must be fluent in all aspects of government and corporate communications media to include all MS Office products and common task ticketing systems 
  • Must have the demonstrated ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders in a variety of formats 
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team 
  • Ability to work periodically on shift to assist the team 
  • US citizenship required 
  • Active DOD TS/SCI Clearance

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • DoD 8570 IAT III (CISSP, CASP, CISA, GCED, GCIH) 
  • Experience with writing studies that answer senior leader questions; provide analysis, risks, and options; and support decision making.
  • Experience performing data collection and analysis; conducting/producing studies on DODIN terrain types (IT, IAPs, cloud, CDS, encryption, mission partner environment, etc.), capabilities (security devices, tools, etc.), data management, and other issues pertaining to the protection and resilience of the DODIN and specific areas thereof.
  • Experience with data from systems such as Mission Assurance Decision Support System (MADSS), Secure SMADSS, Defense Readiness Reporting System (DRSS), System Network Approval Process Continuous Monitoring and Risk Scoring (CMRS), Big Data Platform (BDP), DoD information Technology Repository (DITPR), and other authoritative data sources as required

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
