Responsibilities

We are seeking a Test Facility Controls Engineer to provide aviation power systems support for our NAVAIR customer in Lexington Park/Patuxent River, MD. In this position you will have the opportunity to be part of the Navy’s world class Electrical Power Team, developing critical capabilities to support the fleet.

 

The person that fills this role will be responsible for the following:

This position will support the Propulsion Systems Evaluation Facility (PSEF) Operations and Maintenance programs.  The PSEF has test capabilities for Fuels and Lubricants, Turbine Engine Rotor Spin, Helicopter Drive and Turbine Engine test projects.  This position will provide support to the Instrumentation and Data Acquisition Branch with a focus on instrumentation and data acquisition systems and test article and facility control systems.

Tasking includes:

  • Independently, and/or with the assistance of technicians and engineers, plans, and coordinates projects for the development and procurement of control systems, instrumentation and data acquisition systems and test control room computer requirements.
  • Responsible for developing designs, plans, specifications and operating procedures for the repair, improvement and modernization of control equipment and acquisition systems used to control engines and test-related equipment/systems of a propulsion test facility.

Qualifications

The candidate that we hire will meet or exceed the following:

  • BS 8-10, MS 6-8, PhD 3-5 with preference for Electrical Engineering background.
  • Knowledge of and experience designing and implementing process control systems
  • Experience collecting data (pressures, temperatures, vibrations, voltages etc.) and providing the data to customers for analysis
  • Experience in the acquisition of new data systems and the implementation of the system
  • Has prepared specifications for new equipment/systems, has evaluated vendor proposals and provided technical evaluations.
  • Has prepared system installation drawings for implementation by technicians
  • Has conducted troubleshooting of instrumentation and/or control systems, determined corrective actions and implemented corrections.
  • Experience with National Instruments Systems is preferred
  • Experience using Programmable Logic Controllers to control processes or machines
  • This position doesn’t support electrical power systems such as 120 VAC.

Security Clearance:

This position requires the candidate to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. In order to obtain a clearance, you need to be a U.S. Citizen and show proof of citizenship.

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
