System Engineer II

Peraton is seeking a System Engineer to assist with developing comprehensive SOA solutions, developing operational view; technical standards view, and system and services view for architectures using applicable DoDAF standards; conducting and/or approving end-to-end system trade analyses to optimize system operations over its life-cycle through the proper balance of non-functional system performance areas; using validated models, simulations, and prototyping to mitigate risk and reduce cost of system development; ensuring effective, periodic review and control of the evolving configuration of a system, both hardware and software components and associated documentation, during the life of the system.

Basic Qualifications:

• Fourteen (14) years’ experience as a SE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity is required
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five (5) years of additional SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree
• 5+ years Linux system administration experience
• Experience implementing automation and configuration management tools such as Puppet, Salt and Ansible
• Advanced scripting language experience
• Operations experience in VMware virtual environments to include ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, VSAN and virtual machines
• Experience utilizing DoD approved information security standards, policies, practices and tools to perform vulnerability assessments and system hardening
• Basic understanding of networking principles and configuration
• Active DoD8570 IAT Level II security certification (e.g.: Security +)
• Active TS SCI security clearance with a current polygraph is required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Apache NiFi proficiency
• Ability to navigate, configure dataflows, and use dataflow information with the NiFi User Interface
• Ability to use key features, including FlowFiles, processors, process groups, controllers, and connections, to define a NiFi dataflow and an understanding of NiFi's architecture configuration is a plus
• Experience architecting and building VMware virtual environments
• Ability to document the infrastructure configuration and topology using Microsoft Visio or equivalent drawing tool
• Experience documenting and editing processes and procedures
• Experience managing the installation and removal of hardware
