Cyber Security SME

Peraton is seeking a Cyber Security SME to join our qualified, diverse team. 

The qualified applicant will provide objective advice, expertise and specialized skills in, but not limited to, supporting projects related to the individual's subject matter expertise or functional domain. They will prepare and deliver analysis and presentations to colleagues, subordinates, and USPS representatives. Also, asssure the proper use of current or requested engineering, configuring, programming, testing, and documentation techniques. Produce and/or review documentation and reports reflecting knowledge of areas. The SME will lead special projects or investigations into specific technology or solution issues and to shepherd research and piloting of new technologies. They may serve as a point of contact for engineering efforts and has overall responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of solutions and/or services while maintaining compliance with enterprise-wide architecture policies and guidelines.

Day to Day Work Responsibilities:

• Apply extensive technical expertise in select domain and make recommendations and implement as required
• Develop technical solutions to complex problems
• Assist with configuration, validate secure complex systems, and test security products and systems to detect security weakness as required
• Assist with designing, developing, and recommending integrated security system solutions that ensure proprietary and confidential data and systems are protected as required
• Provide assistance with technical engineering services for the support of integrated security systems and solutions as required
• Interface with the client in the strategic design process to translate security and business requirements into technical designs as required

• Duties:

• Follow up with site administrators for status on non-compliant platforms and maintain any necessary exception documentation

• Configure and maintain IDS/IPS policies

• Perform database maintenance on IDS/IPS management consoles

• Maintain documentation for exceptions to standards.

• Provides timely and adequate response to threats/alerts, including off-hour support.

• The ability to assess security events to drive to a resolution.
• Provides timely and sufficient response to security incidents and assessment services.
• Promotes security awareness.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in an engineering/cyber discipline with at least 12-15 years experience; or Masters degree and 10-13 years experience or high school diploma/equivalent and 16 years relevant experience.
• All candidates must be a US Citizen, or have permanent residence status (Green Card).
• Candidate must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years.
• Must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Clearance
• Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last five years. Military Service excluded. (Exception does not include military family members.)

• Other Relevant Technology Certifications
