Responsibilities

Provide technical expertise on cloud cluster computing techniques and technologies and expert advice to the program, and related cloud computing architectures including both Azure and AWS. Research, evaluate, and deploy advanced cloud computing systems and large data analytics for clients in research and production areas.

 

  • Responsible for developing the cloud service delivery models and architectural framework to enable platform as a service (PaaS), infrastructure as a service (IaaS), software as a service (SaaS), and data as a service (DaaS).    
  • Analyzing and recommending what applications, services can move, migrate, and/or be deployed into a cloud environment.  
  • Experience architecting and migrating on-prem data and services across multiple classification levels.  
  • Drive the cloud adoption strategy: The architect's role is to help determine the need for cloud infrastructure and manage its adoption. Part of the process of cloud adoption is consulting and informing of the recommended cultural change in the organization that comes with changing infrastructure, employee roles and procedures. The cloud architect/ Engineer should be able to communicate effectively with cloud providers and third parties that are involved in the program. 
  • Cloud architecture development. After adoption, the architect is tasked with developing the architecture, which spans several areas of IT including application development, data management, and identity and access management. It is the role of the architect to ensure that all these pieces work in harmony. 
  • Cloud management and monitoring. Once the architecture is established, the cloud architect's job is to maintain the architecture and monitor its performance according to business objectives. 
  • Familiarity with various cloud platforms 
  • Familiarity with working in virtual environments i.e. VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V 
  • Continue to maintain and engineer solution for cloud or on-premises development and production platforms ensuring:    
    • Scalability  
    • Failover/ Recovery  
    • Disaster Recovery Planning  
    • Monitoring  
    • Security  
    • Performance  

Qualifications

  • 10 years of experience developing comprehensive and innovative technical solutions with at least 2 years experience with both AWS and Azure.
  • Experience architecting and migrating on-premises applications into a cloud platform.
  • Comfortable creating and presenting technical diagrams in programs like MS Visio.
  • Experience implementing disaster recovery and failover mechanisms, monitoring tools and solutions, and security controls.
  • Top Secret Clearance

Target Salary Range

$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
