Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Sr. Satellite Ground Systems Engineer to join our team at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, supporting our Space Exploration Network Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract. This position will allow for 100% remote telework, with occasional travel to NASA locations as needed, both CONUS and OCONUS.

 

As prime contractor on the Peraton Space Exploration Networks Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract, Peraton is responsible for the operation, maintenance, sustainment, and systems engineering of NASA’s worldwide satellite communication networks.  In this position, you will become part of NASA’s return to the moon, support new earth and space science missions, and launch vehicles. You will be an integral part of a world class team that ensures NASA space-ground communications are reliable and meet mission requirements.

 

You will be responsible for engineering activities associated with the development of NASA communications ground systems in support of new and existing programs and initiatives. This position also involves being a part of a dynamic team engaged in concurrent planning and execution to meet high-priority national timelines for missions.

 

Develop systems engineering-related documentation including:

  • Requirements documents
  • Specifications
  • Interface Control Documents
  • Lead and support technical planning for procurement and associated satellite antenna subsystems
  • Perform analysis, design, and trade studies for development of satellite ground systems
  • Oversee the Final Integration and Systems End-to-End Tests activities onsite (some travel required)

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related Engineering discipline, and 10+ years of related experience; or a Master's degree and 8+ years of experience
  • At least 10+ years of experience in the analysis, design, and development of satellite ground stations
  • Experience performing satellite ground station analysis to include concrete pad and anchor bolt placement, cable, and waveguide routing
  • Experience in the development installation, integration, and commissioning of satellite communications systems, satellite ground station, full motion antennas, rack-mounted RF equipment, modems, tracking systems, satellite reflector antennas and associated hardware.
  • This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.  In order to obtain a clearance, you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working with NASA programs and projects
  • Prior experience working with Department of Defense and/or Intelligence Community organizations
  • Have the ability to work under challenging timelines with ambiguity
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
