Responsibilities

Working with NASA flight projects, an EMI/EMC Engineer supports the development of test laboratory test procedures, equipment set-up and test operations to meet requirements for space vehicles or ground support equipment specifications.  EMI/EMC test engineers review test results and make recommendations to the project on specific technical issues that may arise.  Will need to develop cost estimates for level of effort requested by customers. Test quality and cost tracking will also be part of the EMI/EMC engineer’s responsibility.  Work with technicians and support hands-on EMI/EMC Testing and document results. The position is in the Environmental Test and Integration Support (ETISIII) at Goddard Space Flight Center located in Greenbelt, Maryland.

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Support Electromagnetic Compatibility and Interference testing of space flight hardware to MIL-STD 461 or NASA specific standards
  • Develop Electromagnetic Test procedures in-accordance-with MIL-STD and NASA standards
  • Support test set-ups and test equipment selection
  • Develop new test procedures as Test Standards evolve
  • Generate cost estimates for EMI/EMC testing
  • Process the collected data and convert to project usable information
  • Write test reports summarizing test results
  • Read electronic drawings and schematics.
  • Distinguish color for 8 color display while monitoring testing data

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Electrical Engineering Bachelor of Science Degree
  • 6 years of direct test experience or 8 years of related experience
  • Experienced with lab test equipment including receivers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, amplifiers, and antennas.
  • Proficiency Windows OS and Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/Outlook).
  • Adhere to policies and procedures at all levels of the test environment
  • Ability to obtain iNARTE Certification within 2 years

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience operating EMI/EMC test control software such as TILE! & EMC32
  • iNARTE Certification
  • Familiarity using computer interface to operate mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Knowledge of RF principles and antenna theory
  • Experience with 5s initiatives
