Peraton’s National Programs Business Intelligence Systems & Applications Operating Unit has a need for an experienced SQL Database Engineer to support its SITE III BES contract charged with the orchestration, sustainment, and evolution of a portfolio of applications that focus on the business functions (Acquisition, Training, Security, Human Resources) which facilitate critical administrative services across the Defense Intelligence Agency’s entire global workforce.  The SITE III BES contract is designed to establish and ensure a multi-discipline approach to requirements engineering, solutions engineering, scheduling, reliability, resiliency, services development, integration, test and evaluation, maintainability and analysis across the supported agency directorates and branches.  Our support team applies best practices in architecture design, data science, cloud services, DevSecOps and platform integration to develop, sustain and continually evolve the enterprise business systems environment, systems integration and back-end business process workflows.

Peraton is seeking a Database Engineer IV candidate to support an Intelligence Community customer in the Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area.

The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Perform database administration activities required to install and maintain database management software, design and implement predictive analysis.
  • Install, configure, provision, operate, and administer database management systems and related software and backend storage server and hardware platforms.
  • Design, install, monitor, maintain, and performance tune production databases while ensuring high levels of data availability.
  • Provide support to the development and implementation of database policies and procedures to ensure databases' integrity and availability, including software updates.
  • Communicate regularly with the development team, business, and operations teams to ensure the security and confidentiality of data.
  • Responsible for the availability, reliability, and integrity of business data stored in production databases.

Qualifications

Requires 8 to 10 years with BS/BA or 6 to 8 years with MS/MA or 3 to 5 years with PhD.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study with 8+ years of relevant experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • A minimum 8 years of experience with database engineering
  • Active Security+ certification (DoD 8570 baseline certification for IAT Level 2)
  • Experience with Oracle and/or SQL Server, other database platforms
  • Experience with Amazon Web Service (AWS) Cloud experience
  • Experience with VMWare

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience writing SQL and PL/SQL queries to generate system data reports, modify data as necessary, etc.
  • Experience with Postgres and GIT
  • Experience in database design and development
  • Experience with Unix, Linux and/or Windows operating systems
  • Familiar with Agile practices
  • Advanced experience in database monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and high availability strategies for SQL Server 2017 or higher
  • Experience architecting, designing, developing, and managing databases using relational databases such as SQL Server
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL Server backup and recovery strategies
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL Server High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
  • Ability to design, develop, and document technical solutions, standard operating procedures, and change requests.
  • Ability to administer Linux/Windows server-based operating systems and CLI w/ scripting.
  • Ability to design & develop solutions with SSIS, SSRS & Power BI.
  • Experience with capacity planning, utilization, and performance monitoring (Index, Table, Queries, and Stored procedures).

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
