Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking to identify highly motivated and qualified individuals for various future opportunities.  We are currently seeking a Sr. Network Engineer

 

Our team supports technical solutions associated with the collection, processing, and exploitation of assured, relevant, and timely oceanographic, meteorological, hydrographic, precise time and astrometric information for the Commander, Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command (CNMOC). Candidates who join our team play an integral role in the design, development, and innovative modernization of the IT infrastructure used to provide meteorology and oceanography support to warfighters afloat and ashore. We will maintain, upgrade, and modernize the IT infrastructure to include engineering, software development, administration, and data management.

Must be a US Citizen and hold a DoD Secret clearance, Top Secret clearance preferred

This is a hybrid on site/telework environment.

Candidates must be within a commutable distance from the primary physical location they are hired for.

 

This work includes but is not limited to:

  • Supervise personnel engaged in the operation and support of network facilities, including all communications equipment in large scale or multi-shift operations.
  • Assign personnel to various projects and direct activities; review and evaluate work and prepare performance reports.
  • Confer with and advise on policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities and methods.
  • Supervise complex operations involving network operations, security, and production support activities.
  • Responsible for the planning, modeling, simulation, design, installation, maintenance, management, and coordination of the network.
  • Test and analyze all elements of the network facilities including power, software, security features, communications devices, lines, and terminals for the overall integration of the enterprise network.
  • Monitor and control the performance and status of the network resources.
  • Utilize tools to identify and diagnose complex problems and factors affecting network performance.
  • Oversee administration of Network, Web, and/or communication systems, including Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) systems, involving network security. This includes administration of user accounts, passwords, email, chat, and FTP.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of hardware, software and network components.
  • Consult with and advise network users.
  • Coordinate network administration and performance requirements with others.
  • Identify, analyze, and documents long-term requirements and schedules resources for enterprise network.
  • Responsible for configuration management and documentation of network and system topologies.
  • Prepare technical implementation plans providing integrated solutions including actions, milestones, timelines, and critical paths required for complete solutions.
  • Research applicable standards and requirements documents to ensure compliance.
  • Plan for and provide reasonable responsiveness in terms of performance.
  • Prepares activity and progress reports regarding the network performance.

Qualifications

  • BS 8-10, MS 6-8, PhD 3-5
  • Must be a US Citizen and hold a DoD Secret clearance, Top Secret clearance preferred
  • 5+ years installing and maintaining networks involving multiple technologies
  • 5+ years with Cisco Networking systems
  • Working in agile development environment

Desired Experience:  

  • Evaluation of compliance with security standards
  • Operations in a High-Performance Computing environment
  • Knowledge of Risk Management Framework
  • Experience with clustered Linux environments and Hybrid Cloud Networks
  • DoD Architecture Framework (DODAF) experience

Target Salary Range

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
