Peraton has an immediate need for a Systems Application Architect

  • The position is a remote opportunity, but must reside in the U.S. 
  • Agile SAFe 4.5/5.0 Certification or equivalent
  • Security+ certification and AWS Developer or Solutions Architect Certification preferred

What you will do:: 

  • Apply technical expertise to lead agile teams in working on unusually complex development challenges and provide product solutions in accordance with Agile Methodologies. 
  • Establish the basic structure of the system, defines essential core design features and elements that provide the framework.  
  • Incorporate engineering strategies for introducing new technology into the customer's infrastructure related to its business processes of collection, analysis, production, and dissemination.  
  • Perform feasibility analysis on potential future projects to management, provide cost-benefit analyses to determine whether requirements are best met by manual, software, or hardware functions; making maximum use of commercial off-the-shelf or already developed components.  
  • Apply knowledge of enterprise IT or engineering needs to design improved processes, generate valid requirements, and ensures that these are consistent with the customer's enterprise technical architecture.  
  • Design interfaces and brings system elements together, address problems of systems integration, compatibility, and multiple platforms.  
  • Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures.  
  • Customer liaison and support for development activities and to understand and shape requirements, assist the Govt. Product Owners in meeting their duties and responsibilities and managing the Product Backlog. 
  • Work with the customer and across Scrum Teams to prioritize features, user stories, and identifying team velocity. 
  • Work with Product Owners to identify priorities, participate in Sprint Reviews, Backlog Refinement, and lead team daily stand-up meetings. 
  • Work collaboratively among cross-functional teams and multiple vendors to execute timely releases of code. 
  • Work with Scrum Master to support development and/or sustainment of a software environment that covers the entire Software Development Lifecycle using current methodologies to include Continuous Deployment, Agile, and Development Operations (DevOps). 
  • Consults with project teams and end users to identify application requirements.  
  • Assists in the evaluation and recommendation of application software packages, application integration and testing tools. Resolves problems with software and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements.  
  • Instructs, assigns, directs, and checks the work of others on the development team.  
  • Participates in development of software user manuals and technical reports. 
  • Working knowledge of AWS ecosystem & implement cloud-native software solutions on AWS
  • Experience working and Implementing Cloud technologies, specifically using AWS Services (Microservices, Lambda, SQS/SNS, S3, Cloudwatch etc), Git, popular CI/CD tools.
  • Passion for CI/CD automation, and DevSecOps practices to increase delivery velocity
  • Knowledge and experience working with Relational & NoSQL Databases. (Oracle, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB)
  • Experience in full stack development using Java as a core competency
  • Experience in developing Web Services / RESTful APIs and API Integration
  • Provide support to the Chief Enterprise Architect, the Release Train Engineer (RTE), and Senior Leadership. Coordinate intra-team, external-team, cross-ART, and cross-functional cooperation to facilitate synergy and success across the Program. 
  • Attend Program-Level Ceremonies and Reviews on behalf of the Scrum Team and brief Team status during Quarterly Program Increment Planning sessions. 
  • Create and update user stories in Jira/Confluence. 
  • Submit weekly and monthly status reports and deliverables.  
  • Develop and deliver working level and senior leadership briefs. 
  • Produce high-quality papers, presentations, recommendations, and findings for senior government Intelligence and operations officials. 


  • Qualifications:

    • BS 12-15, MS 10-13. Phd 10+ or HS+16 yrs
    • Hold active DoD Secret clearance
    • Agile SAFe 4.5/5.0 Certification or equivalent
    • Knowledge of IT standards, agile methodologies, system development life cycle and project management frameworks 
    • Familiarity with ticketing system, such as ServiceNow. 
    • Strong leadership skills and ability to foster collaborative relationships with customers, teaming partners and cross-functional teams. 
    • Ability to resolve customer issues very quickly and accurately. 
    • Experience with software development (such as Java or Pega) and full-stack development 
    • CI/CD experience preferred.  
    • experience in some or all of the following tools: GitLab, GitHub, Jira, Confluence, Artifactory, Jenkins, Zephyr, Docker, PostgreSQL, MS Office 
    • Experience in AWS, Web Server, HTML, CSS, JS, Identify and Access Management (IdAM), API Gateway is preferred. 
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate technical information. 
    • Understanding of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) process, Kanban Framework, and Waterfall methodologies and how to utilize these within daily activities 

     Desired Skills:

    • AWS Solutions Architect/ AWS Developer Associate Certification desired/preferred
    • Preferred certification: DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification
    • Implementation of PaaS and CaaS platforms
    • Foundation experience with Virtualization/Containerization using Docker/Kubernetes
    • Experience in developing Java applications using the Spring Boot framework
    • PKI experience, including digital signature and encryption of sensitive data

Salary Range

Salary Minimum: $72,500
Salary Mid: $145,000
Salary Maximum: $181,300

The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position, and is just one component of Peraton's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Peraton provides a variety of benefits to employees.
