Systems Engineer, Senior (III)

Peraton is seeking a Systems Engineer, Senior (III) to support Cyber Mission in Annapolis Junction, MD. The System Engineer III is expected to augment the existing dataflow team for a large analytic cloud repository. The selected candidate will work with the team providing Data Flow Management for Data Distribution (DDS) Team. This is an on-call position. The candidate must have prior data flow/or NiFi flow engineering experience. Experience with data government processes, and security and compliance as it relates to data handling and access control and the catalog labelling process is highly desired.

Basic Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience in planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts is required
• The ability to implement comprehensive SOA solutions
• The ability to conduct and/or approve end-to-end system trade analyses to optimize system operations over its life-cycle through the proper balance of non-functional system performance areas
• The ability to ensure effective, periodic review and control of the evolving configuration of a system, both hardware and software components and associated documentation, during the life of the system
• The ability to develop system design alternatives that consider life cycle cost, reuse, complexity, risk, system expansion, and growth
• The ability to maintain knowledge of current and evolving agency, national, and international standards applicable to the system development of interest
• The ability to recommend a preferred solution based on selection criteria adjusted
• The ability to provide technical direction for the full systems engineering life cycle
• The ability to fully define interfaces in terms of origination, destination, stimulus, and data characteristics for software; and electrical and mechanical characteristics for hardware
• Twenty (20) years experience as a SE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity is required
• Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five (5) years of additional SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree
• TS SCI security clearance with current polygraph required 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in developing system performance, availability, scalability, manageability, and security requirements for mid-to-large scale systems
• Experience in leading agile development models
• Experience integrating COTS and GOTS products from multiple vendors
• Experience developing and deploying storage within clustered or cloud environments
• Experience planning and integrating secure compliant solutions based on legal, policy, and compliance directives
• Knowledge and experience with internals of HDFS, HADOOP, and/or HBase/Accumulo BIG TABLE
