Senior Director - Launch Solutions Operating Unit

Peraton, one of the most impactful Government missions and solutions provider in the market, is searching for a Senior Director, Launch Solutions Operations Unit, with deep understanding of NASA’s, DOD’s, MDAs, and Intelligence Community (IC’s) Sounding and Hypersonic Rocket industry. This role will be responsible for the delivery of our vehicles, systems and subsystems, and the shaping of our Launch Solutions sounding rockets and services strategy, and for the continued expansion of our civil space business unit footprint across the hypersonic targets community.  Responsibilities include building key industry partnerships and managing products and services to NASA, Navy, Army, MDA, IC, and other domestic and foreign partners.  The position will focus on development, integration, technology advancement, program execution, capture, and business growth. In execution of this role, key rocket system insights and experiences will be applied and integrated into the Peraton Civil Space Business strategy.

 

The position is located on the Eastern Shore, VA area with light travel required within the U.S. Washington D.C. National Capital Area Region and other U.S. and International locations as required..

 

Responsibilities:

• Lead the sounding and hypersonic rocket and targets programs business on the Eastern Shore, VA (Princess Anne), Wallops Flight Facility, White Sands Test Range and all other supporting locations in all aspects including program(s) execution, business development, capture, and proposal developments and support
• Responsible for the Launch Solutions OU Programs financial and operational goals in support of the company’s overall strategic objectives
• Organize, plan, and implement Launch Solutions Program strategy for NASA, DOD, MDA, IC and others as part of our Civil Space Business Unit organizational strategy
• Establish goals and priorities for Launch Solutions Operating Unit and work with managers to ensure goals cascade to all Launch Solutions Programs staff
• Coordinate the execution of all Launch Solutions programs (domestic and international)
• Plan and direct the work of the Program Managers
• Monitor the technical and financial execution of programs and managers’ work, and taking corrective actions when necessary
• Review and approve hiring and termination requests
• Work with the Peraton recruitment team and Program Managers to identify, attract, and retain the very best talent
• Develop and guide the professional development process for the Launch Solutions Programs scientists, engineers, technicians, and administrative support personnel
• Work with Facility Managers at key geographical locations (domestic and international) to address issues as they arise
• Collaborate with peers in other Operational Units and Business Units in pursuit of common goals
• Work with Senior Management and peers for strategic planning and implementation
• Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with key individuals in customer organizations and partner organizations
• Identify opportunities for growth in the Launch Solutions portfolio of programs, and manage the capture process for new opportunities
• Responsible for providing day-to-day program requirements that include customer engagement and program execution including the delivery of revenue and operating income objectives
• Perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mathematics, Software or other related fields
• 16+ or more years of government and/or contracting experience with significant emphasis in the Sounding/targets/hypersonic rocket community
• Working knowledge of Rocket Systems, Launch and I&T systems, Hardware and Software Integration and Test, TT&C, Mission Management, Operations, Flight Dynamics, Logistics, Sustainment, and Maintenance 
• Excellent management, communication, organizational, and motivational skills
• Community recognized reputation for technical excellence as well as in leadership and knowledge, customer focus, and business growth
• Top Secret security clearance obtainable

 Desired Qualifications

• 20+ or more years government and/or rocket industry experience
• Master’s degree in Engineering or Management
• Experience with -Rocket Systems Integration, Launch, Operations, Development, Maintenance and Sustainment efforts across launch and test ranges
• Excellent business development acumen with proven success very highly desired
• Current Top Secret or above clearance level

Salary Minimum: $97,500
Salary Mid: $195,000
Salary Maximum: $243,800

The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position, and is just one component of Peraton's total compensation package for employees.
