Peraton is seeking a Cyber Security Manager to join our team in Monrovia, California to support our Deep Space Network (DSN) Operations & Maintenance contract with Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL and NASA. The Manager of Cyber Security Operations, is responsible for managing Information Security, processes, procedures and technologies across the DSN in Monrovia, JPL and Goldstone locations.

This individual will be a subject matter expert in incident response and cybersecurity defense and will lead a team of professionals to ensure the security of multiple environments and oversee the design, development, evaluation and ongoing accreditation of information systems. Coordinate and manage all aspects of the Certification and Accreditation (C&A) / Assessment and Authorization (A&A) process, ensuring compliance with government and corporate security policies and procedures.

• Play a significant role in the design and execution of the enterprise security operations processes, procedures, and playbooks
• Oversee and lead the security operations team in identification and response to cyber threat activities and incident response
• Lead and manage technology vulnerability identification and remediation/patching of vulnerabilities
• Develop system documentation for information system authorization, security management, and continuous monitoring of both networked and standalone systems.
• Perform system auditing, vulnerability risk assessments, Assured File Transfers, hardware/software configuration management, data integrity containments and investigations on IA related security violations/incidents.
• Provide cybersecurity education and training for all system users on appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
• Manage security operations projects, including process improvement and technology investment
• Drive the creation and execution of plans for incident response.
• Manage team of analysts and subject matter specialists to ensure continued success and growth
• Develop and communicate to peers, business partners, and management aspects of cyber defense, including crisis/incident communications, investigative
• Provide management with weekly, monthly and quarterly metrics for both risk and performance, and measurements of performance
• Manage and maintain relationships with external sources of information security information that can be used to manage our security program

Strong understanding of the following:

• Knowledge of, and experience with, NASA, DOD and other government agency processes and procedures, including the NASA RISCS Cybersecurity Program and POA&M process.
• Endpoint management platforms such as BigFix and security information and event management such as Splunk
• Vulnerability scanning, NESSUS, SIEM and common methods of exploiting vulnerabilities
• Endpoint protection and Data Loss Prevention solutions
• Working knowledge of configuring and maintaining IPS/IDS, firewalls and ACLs (e.g., Palo Alto, Sonicwall, Fortinet, Checkpoint)
• LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, wireless authentication standards (802.1x) and security protocols
• Storage solutions (e.g., SAN, NAS, encrypted storage mechanisms)
• Digital transfer tools (e.g., Aspera, Signiant, 5th Kind)
• Secure configuration of Linux, Windows, and Mac based servers and endpoints
• Experience evaluating physical and digital security protocols at facilities
• Must have strong communication (written and verbal) and listening skills
• Strong analytical, organizational and decision-making skills

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, IT Engineering, or a related field
• 7+ years of experience in information security and / or security architecture
• Broad technical skills in conducting network and assessments and ISO 17799/27002 based security assessments
• Broad technology expertise with application, system integration, data, and/or infrastructure knowledge
• Must be able to obtain a trusted background check and pass a National Criminal Information Check (NCIC). In order to obtain a clearance you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship.

  • Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)
  • Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC)
